The usual structure is not likely to apply this year if we have a smallish group.

This year will bring a special focus to outdoor activities, caring for the land, gardening, and outdoor crafts. Also planned are a ceilidh and a family day for parents of young children to join for a day.

While Family Camp is an annual tradition that many parents and children love, this year will have special meaning for us as we reconnect with each other and the land at Dorje Denma Ling.

Register soon to let us know you would like to come. Even though we will be a smaller group, we still need a minimum level of participation to make the program viable.

Rites of Passage

During Family Camp 2021, Dorje Denma Ling will be offering Rites of Passage. This program is typically for children 8 years of age, but is open for children up to 11 years old.

The Rites of Passage program celebrates the transition from young childhood to a stage where children are ready to take greater responsibilities and begin to develop a more complex awareness of the world around them.  Chogyam Trungpa, the founder of the Shambhala teachings, explained that, at eight years old, children in Tibet are given the task to take care of young animals on which their family depend for survival.

Throughout the week at Family Camp, children participating in Rites of Passage will work with the elements and experience contemplative practices that will help them face the challenges this new stage of life will bring.  The week concludes with the Shambhala Rites of Passage ceremony to which family, friends, and the local Shambhala community are invited.

Pricing for Family Camp

It has been necessary to increase our prices for Family Camp 2020 because our expenses continue to increase. Nevertheless, a family of four can enjoy an all-expenses paid, week-long vacation at Dorje Denma Ling for only $1,350 — a mere $282 per family member. Space is limited. Register now if you can.

Adults 19+: $475 each (all inclusive)
Child 1 & 2: $200 each (all inclusive)
Child 3, 4, 5: $150 each (all inclusive)
Rites of Passage: $55 each for material fee

A Few Instructions for Completing Registration

Since you will be registering for your whole family together, the registration process needs to be completed in two steps:

1. You will be asked to enter the names and emails for everyone in your family.
   • For children, enter your own email again. This is an important in order to complete the registration for each child in Step 2.
   • The rest of the form will capture your personal information and payment details.
2. For each person registered in your family group, an email will be sent that has a link to a separate registration form to complete.
   • You will receive an email for EACH of the children your registered.
   • Visit the link for each of the children and complete their personal details: age, dietary needs, medical / health related details, and any special needs, if applicable. (You can skip any fields that are applicable to your whole family.)

By following this process, it helps us know how to assign children to classrooms and support any special dietary and other needs a child may have.

NOTE FOR TEACHERS & KEY STAFF: Register in the same manner as other families. However, select the “E-Transfer or Check” payment option to by-pass having to pay a deposit by credit card. We will adjust your Guest Statement and send you a payment link for the revised amount.
