October 25, 2026, marks the 50-year anniversary of the manifestation of the Ashe in the Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s mind stream. To celebrate this occasion, the Kalapa Study Group* is hosting a 5-day intensive practice and study retreat.

*The Kalapa Study Group is a civil society non-sectarian interest group committed to the preservation and realization of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s Kingdom of Shambhala teachings.

This is the Information & Registration page for the ONLINE access.

After you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a Resource Page. This Resource Page will contain the detailed Schedule, the Zoom Link and some Conference Materials.

The Resource Page may be updated daily with any important changes to the schedule and materials. We suggest that you bookmark it.

Since this is a retreat, we are asking online participants to separate two hours a day for practice and study on their own or with other participants locally, or with us in the virtual shrine room we will provide.

What to expect

We will come together in a dignified retreat container to practice and study and contemplate Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche’s Kingdom of Shambhala teachings.

We will primarily study the root text, the Golden Sun of the Great East, and its Auto-Commentary, the Tiger Lion Garuda Dragon text.  The practice will consist of lungta raising, executing the stroke of Ashe, Golden Key practice, Lhasangs, and Werma. There will be ample time to rest, study and enjoy nature walks. Banquets and feasts, as well as expeditions to Drala spots, will provide opportunities for celebration and comradeship.

Peer-to-peer exchanges will be enriched by contributions, in person or online, from learned participants. A set of topical discussions will be led by community members, such as what are the implications of these teachings for those residing in the Maritimes, as well as for those who do not.

There are pre-requisites:  KOS/Lodge transmission, Werma, stroke, and lungta transmissions.
