An Immersive Retreat of Kalapa Warriors Dedicated to:

  • Revisiting the Kingdom of Shambhala teachings of the Dorje Dradul,
  • Practicing together as a sangha of subjects, and
  • Contemplating how these teachings can guide us in preserving human dignity during times of global strife.


Retreat Overview

  • In-person: Morning practices (Werma, Stroke, and Lungta), afternoon presentations, and evening performances.
  • Online: Afternoon sessions and performances, with encouragement for local centers to host simultaneous in-person gatherings for practice and contemplation.


Pre-requisites:

Kalapa Assembly, Rigden Abhisheka, or KOS transmission.

Pre-gathering Study:

Participants are encouraged to review:

  • Cycle of the Black Ashe by Robin Kornman (Nalanda Translation Committee),
  • Creating Enlightened Society (Nalanda Translation Committee), and
  • Reflections in the Cosmic Mirror: The Kalapa Teachings of the Dorje Dradul on (Self Study Course on Shambhala Online).


Maximum Enrolment:

  • In person: 35 participants
  • Online: Unlimited

Schedule

The typical day will begin at 8:00 am with breakfast and end around 8:30 pm, with a few exceptions such as arrival and departure days. There are breaks for meals and mid-day rest. Rota duties will be kept at a minimum.

Morning sessions will start at 9:00 AM after breakfast. The focus will be on Werma, Stroke, and Lungta, along with readings and contemplation of the Shambhala terma texts, with a couple of highlights, listening to the Dorje Dradul.

Afternoon sessions will begin at 3:30 pm AT. These will provide an opportunity to catch up with each other as subjects sharing a particular set of teachings and commands.

As a keynote presentation, we have invited members of the Nova Scotia legislature to address Nova Scotia’s political, social, environmental, and economic health. This overview will be enriched by panel presentations with fellow subjects on Vajra Politics, symbolic language of Court Principle, history of KOS, Dralas in Nova Scotia, Dorje Kasung transmissions of Victory Over War, current governance structures within the Shambhala mandala, service and relations in Nova Scotia rural communities, environmental concerns, etc.

Evenings will feature performances by sangha musicians, actors, and Kalapa Arts practitioners, creating a vibrant space to connect and celebrate.

Arrival: Friday, October 17 by 5 pm. Dinner is at 6:30, with orientation and the first talk beginning around 7:30.

Departure: Sunday October 26 after lunch.

Costs

All prices are in $CAD. Please consider paying by e-transfer, cheque, or cash. Saving transaction fees helps us keep the Centre going.
